About

In the third edition of Lenzburg's Photo Festival, everything revolves around the theme of acceleration of time. Until a few decades ago, the rhythm of nature dictated the rules of life. Industrialization and technological development have placed time management in the hands of man and have set new rhythms that have enormous effects on people and the entire ecosystem. The extremely high number of events and information that the individual has to cope with, the competitive society in which we live, challenges us to accelerate. The word “stress” is one of the most used and common refereed to daily life (1’510’000’000 results only in Google), and the rising of psychological diseases like anxiety, especially among young people, give an indication of the struggle at the personal level to find a new rhythm, a personal time. Our environment is all the same in the time of profound and dangerous changes, which question the sustainability of the global economic system. We are in times under pressure.

The festival wants to draw the attention of all - experts and the general public - to a theme that impact at a different level everyone, inviting renown photographers and emerging talents to share their visions of this theme in the Festival’s next edition.

The competition is open to all types of photography and is aimed at photographers from near and far. An international jury of curators will choose the most interesting projects, which will be exhibited during the Festival, from 9 May to 9 June, in Lenzburg’s fascinating Villa Müllerhaus. An additional group of single images selected by the jury will be showcased in the shop windows of Lenzburg’s historic town center, with the chance to win the People’s Prize (every image will have a corresponding number and the public will be asked to vote for the best image via SMS). The town itself will be turned into an open photo gallery, with several additional exhibits and a rich program of events, workshops, and talks with authors and experts.
