About

Landskrona Foto has in recent years been established as one of the Nordic regions’ eminent photography initiatives and includes the renowned Landskrona Foto Festival.

What winners receive

It’s an opportunity for a​ non-Swedish photographer or artist working with photography and/or lens based media to have time and space away from their usual environment and obligations.

The residency takes place for 6 weeks from May 2020.

The residency photographer receives a grant of 15000 SEK (approx. 1500 EUR), travel expenses to and from the home country (economy only), an apartment in Landskrona, and office space with Landskrona Foto crew.

Landskrona Foto connects the photographer in residency with regional-based photographers, artists and other art professionals through meetings, mentoring, exhibition openings and other networking opportunities.

How to enter

  • Motivation for applying for a residency at Landskrona Foto in Landskrona, Sweden
  • Presentation of the photographers practice and project proposal, we encourage the photographer to engage in a project related to Landskrona.
  • Upload ​image documentation of previous projects. Max two projects ​5-10 images in each.

Juror information

Paola Paleari
Paola Paleari (b. 1984) is an Italian independent curator, editor and writer based in Copenhagen. Between 2013 and 2018 she worked as deputy editor at YET magazine and in 2018 she joined FSK Foreningen for Samtidskunst, the Danish Association for Contemporary Art. She is currently artistic director at JIR SANDEL and correspondent for Flash Art magazine from Scandinavia. Her main area of interest is the photographic language and its relations with the contemporary visual culture and art practices. She is also interested in the intersection between critical and creative writing and often intertwines art criticism with other forms of storytelling. paolapaleari.net

Ian Lewandowski
Ian Lewandowski is a photographer from Northwest Indiana, USA. He has recently exhibited photographs at School 33 Art Center (Baltimore), 1969 Gallery (New York), Skylab Gallery (Columbus), and Lamar Dodd School of Art (Athens). Ian has been published in ​Unseen​, The Fader, ​American Chordata​, and Capricious. In 2017 Dashwood Books released ​Vigil (RHYTHM) Vigil​, a volume of his photographs alongside paintings by his partner Anthony Cudahy, which was in 2018 featured in the Queering ​Space group exhibition at Alfred University. He recently completed ​an MFA at the State University of New York at Purchase (SUNY), where he also taught undergraduate photography courses. Ian’s work negotiates picture and body histories. Sofia Wickman
Sofia Wickman has an artist background in multi-disciplinary audiovisual and art history. In 2012, Wickman received a BA from the Audio Visual Department at Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her artistic practice focus mainly on photography, video and installation. Between 2014 and 2015, Wickman, managed the visionary art and music project Future Legends. Today she works as curator at Galleri CC, producer for the Touring Company at Dansstationen in Malmö and as independent curator. sofiawickman.com

Raffaele Piano, Landskrona Foto.
Raffaele Piano (b.1984) is an italian photographer based in Malmö (Sweden). He studied Digital Arts and Photography in Rome. In 2014 moved to Iceland for an internship at the Reykjavik Museum of Photography’s archive. After this experience in 2015 he moved to Sweden where he has started different collaborations with galleries and artists and continue to work on his own projects focusing on archival materials and found objects. He is currently working at Landskrona Foto as residency coordinator, project manager for Parallel Intersection 2020 and assistant.
