About

Landskrona Foto has in recent years been established as one of the Nordic regions’ eminent photography initiatives and includes the renowned Landskrona Foto Festival.

What winners receive

It’s an opportunity for a non-Swedish photographer or artist working with photography and/or lens based media to have time and space away from their usual environment and obligations. The residency takes place for 6 weeks from May 2021. The residency photographer receives a grant of 15000 SEK (approx. 1500 EUR), travel expenses to and from the home country (economy only), an apartment in Landskrona, and an office space with Landskrona Foto crew. Landskrona Foto connects the photographer in residency with regional-based photographers, artists and other art professionals through meetings, mentoring, exhibition openings and other networking opportunities.

How to enter:

  • Motivation for applying for a residency at Landskrona Foto in Landskrona, Sweden.
  • Presentation of the photographers practice and project proposal. We encourage the photographer to engage in a project related to Landskrona.
  • Upload image documentation of previous projects. Max two projects 5-10 images in each.
  • A current CV with link to the applicant’s website.

Juror information

VIVEK MARIAPPAN: Photographer, former residency photographer at Landskrona Foto.

Vivek Mariappan is a documentary photographer based out of Chennai, India. He completed his Master's degree in Visual Communication at Loyola College, India. His artistic practice constantly shifts between the realms of the rural expanse and the built environment of the urban land, dealing primarily with elements of light and space. He has recently exhibited at Landskrona Museum (Sweden) and at the Pingyao International Photography Festival (China). He is also working on exploring the perpetuity and tangibility of the made image through alternative photographic processes.

PETRA STENVALL- THOMPSON: Artist and founder of Tjejland, member of the Advisory Board at Landskrona Foto.

Petra Stenvall-Thompson is an experienced consult with a history of working in the communication industry. Skilled in Communication, Media Relations, Art Direction and curating. Petra graduated from University of Arts, London 2012.  She was one of the winners of Fresh Faced and Wild Eyed 2013, a Photo competition and exhibition hosted by Photographer Gallery, London.\ She is the founder of Tjejland, a platform on publication encouraging female artists to look out for each other.

EVITA GOZE: curator, writer and photographer.

Evita Goze is a curator, writer and photographer, based in Riga. She is interested in intertwining photography with other media and shifting boundaries between reality and fiction, personal and political. She is currently a curator at the ISSP Gallery and of the photobook festival Self Publish Riga. She received a BA in Photography from University of Brighton, UK, and an MA in Visual Communication at the Art Academy of Latvia.\ JENNY NORDQUIST: Director for Landskrona Foto.

Jenny Nordquist is Director for Landskrona Foto, Sweden. She has a background in fine art photography, education and curation. From 2016-2018 she was the Artistic Director for Landskrona Foto Festival. She has previously been head of photography at Östra Grevie College in Sweden and from 2011-2018 she was director of a project space for photography in Copenhagen.
