The Fola Award 2018 to the best photography book of the year

What winners receive

A USD 2000 prize will be awarded to the best photography book of the year. Thirty finalist books will be selected for the exhibition during the FOLA 10x10 Fair event, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

About Fola

FOLA, is a space dedicated to photography. Fola was founded in 2015 as a non-profit organization and is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our mission is to promote photography through exhibitions, publications, awards, portfolio reviews and residencies.

How to enter

● Go through the online submission process
● Print the receipt containing all project details
● Add tracking number to project details, after the parcel has been sent

Delivery:

Send your photobook(s) with your printed submission-receipt(s) via DHL, FEDEX, UPS, TNT, EMS or any other courier company and add the tracking number to the application. Additionally you can deliver the book in person during business hours at Fola reception Regular mail won't be accepted due to customs delays in Argentina

Juror information

Russet Lederman is a writer, editor and photobook collector who lives in New York City. She teaches art writing at the School of Visual Arts in New York and writes on photobooks for print and online journals, including FOAM, The Eyes, IMA, Aperture and the International Center of Photography’s library blog. She is a co-founder of the 10×10 Photobooks project, co-edits The Gould Collection, lectures internationally on photobooks, and has received awards and grants from Prix Ars Electronica and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Leandro Villaro is a photographer and editor, and the Director of Programs at Penumbra Foundation. He has collaborated with numerous photographic institutions, including Aperture Foundation, Errata Editions and the International Center of Photography, among others. Under the imprint antennae collection he has published limited editions of the work of several Argentinian artists. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund. He lives and works in New York.

Ricardo Báez is a graphic designer who focuses on book design. After dropping out Design School, Báez worked –from 2004 to 2012–, along with Venezuelan renowned designers such as Eduardo López, Carlos E. Rodríguez and finally w/ Álvaro Sotillo (AGI member and 2005 Gutenberg Prize) at the Visión Alternativa Design Studio and the Laboratorio de Tipografía de Caracas Research Center. Báez’s work has been shown in Japan, England, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, USA, Scotland, Belgium, Argentina and Venezuela. More recently, he has been involved with photobooks as designer, editor and collector
