For issue 13 we are thrilled to be hosting Penelope Umbrico to guest-edit the issue. She has set the following framework for submissions:
Umbrico wants to see photographic images of surplus: surplus paper; surplus office furniture; surplus office supplies and equipment; electronic and technological surplus; architectural spaces and/or containers that hold surplus…
As part of the compositional layout of this issue, Umbrico will string the images together to create a new space inside the issue. Here multiple individual images will become one singular collective space. To this end, Umbrico is hoping for images displaying vertical structures on the left and right (doors, walls, columns) in order to create an ‘architecture of separation’ between the various spaces presented in the images, while still maintaining a continuous flow between them.
After over a decade of serving the international photography community Der Greif is now finally a registered non-profit. We believe this organizational structure best reflects our artistic and cultural mission. As always, your artistic contribution makes our work on Der Greif possible.
This year we are asking you to consider making a financial contribution as well. That’s why we’re suggesting a voluntary donation of 12 € as a submission fee. 100% of the funds we collect from your donations will go towards helping us produce issue 13, and thus expand Der Greif.
We believe in inclusivity. We don’t want this suggested donation to stand in the way of your submission. If you are unable to contribute financially, please send an email to extravoucher@dergreif.org to receive a voucher code which will allow you to enter for free.
Thank you so much!
