Guest Room aims to spark collaborations. That’s why Alessia Glaviano is teaming up with Chiara Bardelli Nonino, Photo Editor at Vogue Italia and L’Uomo Vogue, in chosing the theme for this instalment. Chiara has decided to work with the quote from “Teaching my mother how to give birth” by Warsan Shire:

“I have my mother’s mouth and my father’s eyes; on my face they are still together. “

Submissions for this Guest Room should consider the sentence above, whether explicitly or abstractly. Alessia Glaviano will be working with the quote in mind when making her selection for her Guest Room.

Alessia Glaviano is the Brand Visual Director of Vogue Italia and Director of the Photo Vogue Festival.

Besides curating a series of interviews with the Masters of photography for the web-site version of Vogue Italia, Alessia Glaviano is also responsible for Photo Vogue with over 160.000 users/photographers hailing from all over the world. Photo Vogue also collaborates with the prestigious international agency Art & Commerce.

At Condé Nast, Alessia is responsible for the artistic direction of events and exhibitions for Vogue Italia and L’Uomo Vogue.

In 2016 Glaviano directed the first edition of The Photo Vogue Festival. The event marked the first international festival entirely dedicated to fashion photography. The 3 editions 2016, 2017 and 2018 met critical and public success.

Besides the editorial activity, Alessia holds lectures and conferences on a regular basis and is invited to participate as jury member in numerous internationally acclaimed photography contests including the World Press Photo and the Festival International de Mode et de Photographie à Hyères. She participated in several portfolio review sessions, including the “New York Times Portfolio Reviews”.
