About Dancing in Peckham

Photoworks, Webber Gallery and Der Greif, will share a space and theme to present three days of photography, performance and music.

Dance is not only a uniting force across disciplines, it is a universal language of expression. We dance alone, in the privacy of our own homes, we dance together, in pairs, in groups and with our community. Dancing in Peckham explores the intersections between dance, music, movement and community through contemporary photography, performance and video. From the archival work documenting the rave culture of the 90s, to contemporary works that embrace a new power of the body in motion, this exhibition embraces its impermanence through its temporary installation as well as an exciting live programme which will take place throughout the weekend.

Der Greif is delighted to invite musicians and artists to be inspired by, react and respond to images submitted through this open call – in live-performances, DJ-sets and happenings. Selected images will be screened throughout the entire course of the exhibition at Peckham24 during Photo London. Der Greif wants to encourage an exchange of diverse voices by inviting contemporary practitioners crossing various disciplines. Over the course of the exhibition and with our guests, we aim to explore the different iterations of community. Together with Photoworks and Webber Gallery, Der Greif wants to create polyphony and cross-pollination between the participants, the audience and the space.

Voluntary Donation

After over a decade of serving the international photography community Der Greif is now finally a registered non-profit. We believe this organizational structure best reflects our artistic and cultural mission. As always, your artistic contribution makes our work on Der Greif possible.

Since founding Der Greif in 2008, we’ve been working hard to invite a broad range of practitioners, from gallerists to editors and curators. We are convinced that this format is an interesting and inclusive approach to help a diverse range of artists place their work in front of cutting-edge professionals. For this reason, we are inviting you to also make a financial contribution. That’s why we’re suggesting a voluntary donation of 10 € as a submission fee. 100% of the funds we collect from your donations will go towards helping us continue providing interesting opportunities for the photography community, e.g. through projects such as “Dancing in Peckham”, and thus expand Der Greif.

We stand for inclusivity. We don’t want this suggested donation to stand in the way of your submission. If you are unable to contribute financially, please send an email to extravoucher@dergreif.org to receive a voucher code which will allow you to enter for free.

Thank you so much!

About Der Greif

DER GREIF is an award-winning organisation for contemporary photography. As a print publication, international online platform, and as a curatorial team, DER GREIF’s aim is to facilitate and help shape dialogues between image-makers and the images themselves. The artistic core and root of the project is our annual, ad-free print publication. The website is an exhibition-, communication-, and information platform for participants and anyone interested in contemporary photography. DER GREIF connects the digital (global) and the analogue (local), exploring and expanding the borders and limitations of image distribution and reception in a digital era. All DER GREIF projects connect virtual, physical and / or printed spaces.
